Anderson Silva vs. Cung Le

So, let me plant a seed for the future. Anderson Silva versus Cung Le to determine the top middleweight fighter.

This is another super-fight that may never happen, but no one knows for sure - so let's keep our hopes up.

Right now, Anderson Silva would be the big favorite considering his extensive MMA experience... but Silva is not unbeatable or undefeated. If Cung Le continues on his path, he should be able to make a great match out of it whether the fight were to happen tomorrow or 3 years from now.

Both fighters have unbelievable stiking skills but Silva has a significant advantage on the ground, the Spider is definitely a more well-rounded MMA-er. Although Cung Le is my favorite fighter, i would be a little nervous for a fight against the likes of an Anderson Silva. But things can change over the next couple of years.

Imagine, a unification bout with the UFC middleweight champion versus the Strikeforce middleweight champion!

Cung Le! Cung Le! Cung Le!

You are looking at one of the best fighters to ever walk this earth. In a close fight, Cung Le wins the StrikeForce Middleweight Championship over Frank Shamrock, another MMA legend.

In only his 6th MMA bout, Cung Le devastates Shamrock with many powerful roundhouse kicks that literally broke the former champion.

Pound-for-pound, Cung Le has to be considered one of the top fighters ever in the history of fighting. A proven striker, Cung has smoothly transitioned himself as a truly legitimate MMA superstar.

Last Saturday night's fight was actually very close... Shamrock did have a decent game plan and landed several vicious punches to Cung's face, but somehow Cung absorbed those blows and landed several knock-out blows himself in a flurrly at the end of round 3. There was no round 4 as Shamrock could not answer the bell - TKO.

There is a good possibility for a re-match. In Shamrock's defense, it would have been a much closer contest if he chose to take the match to the ground where Shamrock has the advantage... which is what he might do if there is a re-match. However, if you watch Le's other bouts, he has very good takedown defense a la Chuck Liddell.
